As of January 26, 2022, the girls’ varsity squash teams had a 6-4 win record. The first game of the season was away, where the team traveled to Simsbury, CT to play Westminster. The notable game ended with Loomis taking their first victory of the season, with a 5-2 score.
“[Westminster] is a big rival.” Coach Williams, Girls Varsity Squash Coach and Director of Squash, said.
The next three games against Williston Northampton, Kingswood Oxford, and Suffield Academy also led to LC victories, with respective scores of 7-0, 7-0, and 5-2.
However, the team’s next game ended in defeat. Their first home game post-winter break, against Choate Rosemary Hall, was an intense and competitive match. The girls played hard but ended with a 2-5 loss score. The two wins were from Angelina Amastal ’23, with a score of 3-0, and Princess Davenport ’23, with another score of 3-0. This score unfortunately broke the team’s winning streak.
In their match against Phillips Exeter Academy, the team had multiple long and intense matches, with most games surpassing 11 points. The team lost, but the games were well-played.
The most recent win from the team was on January 26th against Pomfret, where the girls sweeped with a score of 7-0.
Regarding home matches, senior captain Mariapaula Gonzalez said: “[We always] get a nice crowd.”
According to the captains, the team dynamic is great, and they hope for even more team bonding in the future.
