As the end of the year approaches, students at Loomis Chaffee, most of them which are seniors, are busy preparing for the commencement. Commencement takes place on May 28th, a Sunday two weeks before students leave for summer vacation. To the seniors, it marks the end of of their high school career on the Island and the upcoming starting point 0f college. Feelings that come with commencement can be ambivalent for many, where excitement, sadness, and anxiety all mingle together upon the departure.
For underclassman, commencement does not seem tangible at first, as they seems to have years before Dr. Culbert hands them the diploma. Personally as a new sophomore to Loomis Chaffee, I am excited and curious to know how commencement at Loomis is. As I will be going through this in two years, attending commencement is an event I cannot miss. However, seeing my graduating friends leave and saying good bye to them is always a challenge. Like many other, I will miss the seniors whom I came to know and get ready for my own commencement that is soon to come.
Good Luck to all the members of the Class of 2017 who are graduating this year.
